On June 3, 2023, we hosted our third annual Pasos Scholarship Banquet at Centro Church.
In total, 10 students received $13,000 worth of scholarships. 8 students received $1,000, 1 student received $2,000, and 1 student received $3,000.
Desiree Alcoser-Scott, Corporate Sponsorship Director at the Dallas Mavericks, was the guest speaker.
She spoke to students about the importance of college and timing in life. Ms. Scott considers herself a late bloomer in life, someone who constantly changed careers and paths, until she found her calling. She said that's okay.
She said it is better to be off happy seeking your place on this earth than miserable working at a job one does not like.
After her speech, students were presented with their scholarships and headshots of them were taken.
Our students will be attending: The University of Texas at Austin, Sam Houston State University, George Washington University, Texas A&M Commerce, Hampton University, Texas A&M College Station, Southern Methodist University, and Prairie View A&M University.
Our Pasos Scholarship 2024 will open in November 2023.
